President’s Message – February 2022
Greetings ASHE Members!!
I hope my first message of 2022 finds you well, and underway to a prosperous year. February is an exciting time for the ASHE Central Florida Section. Notably, we will be celebrating Engineers Week with the return of our Transportation Summit, one of our signature events that was last held in 2019. This year’s topic is Safety for All Users, and will be a captivating program with an eclectic panel of participants. I look forward to seeing you on February 24th. We’ll also kick the week off with another Transportation Tuesday, held jointly with our friends at the Florida Engineering Society. This month it will be at Sideward Brewing on 2/22/22 (Transportation Twos-day?!). Stay tuned for more events throughout the year; we have a full slate of social and technical programs lined up including a much-anticipated charity pub crawl in May.
I wanted to take this opportunity to welcome Tony Bevilacqua and Chris Karmeris as new participants in our Section Committees. As I’ve mentioned in previous messages, our Section is happy to have additional help; don’t hesitate to join Chris and Tony in furthering ASHE’s goals and commitment to our industry!
Since February is a short month, my message will be too. I’ll end with February’s Corny Joke:
A guy walks into a bar on Valentine’s Day and orders a beer. He starts chatting with the bartender and says, “Last night my wife woke me up to tell me that she dreamed that I bought her a big, expensive diamond ring for Valentine’s Day, and she wondered if that dream meant anything.” “What did you tell her?” the bartender asks. “I gave her a passionate kiss and told her she would find out tonight,” the guy laughs as he pulls out a small, exquisitely wrapped package. “I got her a book, The Meaning of Dreams.”
Until next time!
