President’s Farewell Message
It has been a great honor to serve as the President for the ASHE Central Florida Section these past 2 years. The experiences and relationships I have built with all of you is something I will hold close to my heart and will cherish for all of my career. I’ve had the pleasure to be part of the Board since 2016! I rapidly took responsibilities to become a director and the programs lead which assisted in me receiving the Young Member of the Year National Award in 2019! Receiving that award was a great honor and shows my continued commitment to the ASHE Central Florida Section. Every position in the board has its rewards and challenges however none is more gratifying than being president. I am also relaying my programs lead role to Marissa Zdunkiewicz and Kathryn Obrien. I’m very proud on how much the Programs Committee has achieved since I started in 2016 and I know Marissa and Kathryn will continue to bring positive and innovative events and programs to all of you!
I would like to thank all of the board members that have mentored and helped me throughout these years. Specifically, I’d like to thank Chris Rizzolo which is the person that convinced me to join ASHE CFL in 2016 and continues to support me to this day. I would also like to thank Sherman Klaus, Erin Kelley and Maile Spang as they have been instrumental to ASHE Central Florida growing as much as it has. The success of this section has definitely been a team effort and it couldn’t have been done without everyone in the Central Florida Board. Last, but not least, I would like to thank all ASHE Central Florida members and our Annual/Event Sponsors! We owe the growth and the success of our section to all of you. This section relies on all of your support to continue growing and to move forward with our mission which is to provide a forum for members and partners of the highway industry to promote safe, efficient and sustainable highway systems through education, collaboration, innovation and fellowship. Thank you all for your continued support.
I would also like to thank Alfredo Rodriguez, Eric McAra, Nate Willbur, Chris Frank, and all FES Board members for always wanting to team up with ASHE CFL for our/your signature events. Additionally, the WTS and ASCE Board Members have also been a key part to our successful joint events! Your support has been instrumental to our continued growth and it was a pleasure teaming up with all of you.
I leave you in good hands with Sherman Klaus, upcoming president, and with all the 2024-2025 Board Members. I won’t be leaving ASHE CFL any time soon so I’ll be seeing all of you at our events!
It has been a great honor to serve you as president. Thank you!
Best regards,
Laura Campos, P.E., ENV SP
2022-24 ASHE Central Florida President
